On the Trail: Spud Point, Bodega Bay

Good ride for fit horses. No hills to climb, but sand all the way to the beach. No bikes, lots of paths to choose from. Water trough at trail head.

Easy access parking lot, though proximity of parking lot to road makes some people (like me) nervous.

Try to stay on the marked trails. The nature of sand dunes is to shift, so it might look like a trail but not be one. The sands can bury branches and other such hazards, so it is better not to strike off on unmarked  paths.  The brush can grown in pretty close over the trail, so your saddle and your legs might get some scratches. In general a very rigorous, pleasant ride with very few climbs.
